heating system

The heating system is a big necessity of each and every house during the cold winter season. But our role is not only limited to choosing a good, effective heating system for our house instead its efficiency in terms of energy consumption must also be taken into consideration.

Energy efficient heating systems

The electronics market is equipped with a huge variety of heating systems like boilers, furnaces, wood heaters, solar heaters, heating pumps etc but despite of great heating efficiency they cannot be used in homes. An apt heating system for home is the one which consumes less power, should be affordable in terms of money and must necessarily be eco friendly i.e., it should not emit hazardous greenhouse gases. The main components of a heating system include a furnace or a boiler that supplies heat, ducts, pipes and radiators are responsible for distributing the heat and thermostats helps in stabilizing the temperature. Don’t forget to keep your doors and windows properly fastened in order to avoid heat loss, ensuring comfort and limiting the power supply bill.

Different options for home heating systems

  • Electrical:

Electrical systems run due to the resistance produced by the heating elements present in the furnaces or in the baseboard heaters which are installed near the floor level. The heat produced is in turn distributed throughout the room or a bigger area with the help of an air circulation system. Always remember that if you opt to install the furnace or a baseboard heater, call only the registered electrician for regular service and maintenance.

  • Natural Gas:

The performance of a natural gas heating system is measured with the help of its AFUE( Annual fuel utilization efficiency). Apart from furnaces other heating devices like boilers are also available in the market. Boilers generate heat by boiling water which then spreads in the entire house with the help of heat exchange uits. Boilers with high efficiency usually have AFUE around 90%, it enables one to reduce the electricity bill by almost 35%. Another option available is the geothermal heating system It claims to lower down your power cost by almost 70%.

Always consult a HVAC professional company before installing the system.
