We are close to that part of the year when there is a slight knock on the door to remind us of the cozy cold season. Giving a relief from the ravishing heat, the winter season has its benefits and disadvantages. But you won’t be able to enjoy it if the furnace doesn’t turn on as it should be. If the house is as cold as outside, then kids won’t be comfortable, and if they aren’t comfortable then no one would be comfortable. And the coziness in the winter season is only available if the house is warm and at the right temperature. So if you don’t know how to turn the furnace on, you’re in for a treat!
Step by Step Guide to Turn the Furnace on
- Breaker
Before anything, any on or off switch, is the breaker. In the house breaker box, there would be a breaker labeled for furnace. If it is not labeled, then you can either check with all the one that are turned off, or you could call an electrician or handyman who knows electrical work to label the breakers for you.
- Switch
After the breaker is the switch. Not the HVAC switch, but the furnace switch. There is a separate switch for the furnace. Usually the switch is installed in a safe place where kids can’t reach it easily. It should be easy to locate, as HVAC contractors usually place it at eye level or slightly above the eye level of a full grown person.
- Check and Set
Now you need to check if the furnace has been turned on or not. Once you are sure that the furnace is turned on, then you need to set the thermostat temperature and that’s about it.
Wasn’t that simple, that’s just getting the furnace on. Once the furnace is turned on you need to check if there is any leak, if it is a gas furnace. Otherwise you need to see if the furnace is working properly and make sure it is not overheating. These are just some checks that you can do before the winter season. This will get you and your furnace completely prepared for the winter season.
