During winter months if you have problem with your electric heater it’s much more than an annoyance and inconvenience. There are two types of electric heaters, the one that is you plug in and another one that is permanent heaters that are installed in your house like a baseboard heater and a wall mounted heater.

The most common baseboard heater and a wall mounted heaters run at the hottest temperature.

Since these systems make use of electricity, you need to ensure that they are energy efficient for you in order to avoid paying huge amounts of money as electricity bills. To avoid paying huge amounts of bills you can go for regular maintenance. You can maintain these systems of your own but if you don’t have skills then you should hire a professional to do it for you. What can go wrong with Electric Heaters?

The electric heaters can stop working when the heating element burns out, thermostats and heater fan fail, power cords or switches fail. The most common problems are caused by switches, thermostats, fans, dirt and heating elements.

Every electric heater requires care and maintenance to safely operate. You should clean your heaters every three to six months. Another way is to turn off the power to the heater and use compressed air to blow dust out of it.

Electric heaters run at a very high temperature so keep your furniture or other personal items at least three feet away of it also do not let electrical cords hang over or in front of the heaters.

Troubleshooting of Electric Heater

To troubleshoot electric heaters always verify that the unit has power because sometimes a power outage can cause your electric heater to malfunction. If there is a reset button on your heater then try resetting it and if still it’s not working then start diagnose the problem from the thermostat, fuses and circuit breakers, fan, dirt etc.

If the problem still exists then try to book an appointment or call a professional to diagnose the problem or either replaces the heating element. By taking the help of the professional at the end will let your electric heater work properly.
