Heating System Repair

Any HVAC system is incomplete without a heat pump. The main function of heat pump is the transmission of heat energy from one location to another i.e. from a colder location to a hotter location. Point to be noted here is that this is not the way in which heat is transferred in nature. In nature, heat is transferred in opposite way i.e. from a hotter location to a colder location. With advancement in technology, heat pumps have become very sensitive.Heat pump repair are necessary only when actual breakdown of any of its component takes place. However, this is not always the case. Many a time’s wrong settings might result in the malfunction of the unit.

Not all the problems require repairing.

Thermostats and heat pump repair and maintenance

  • Check whether thermostat settings are correct or not. Incorrect settings will result in the thermostat getting on and off on regular intervals. Due to extreme temperature difference this might cause damage in the equipment.
  • Today’s thermostats control the working of heat pump and other related components for increasing the efficiency of the system.
  • Always set the temperature steadily. Quick increase or decrease in temperature settings can also damage the equipment.
  • Thermostat understands the heating requirement after sampling the air inside the house. So, it should be placed at a suitable location, where it can access the right amount of air.

Some other heat pump repair and maintenance basics

  • Clean the coils in the outdoor condensing units with water at regular intervals. For proper functioning of heat pump these coils require unobstructed flow of air, so keep them in an open surrounding. Run the defrost cycle of the heat pumps for removing the ice.
  • Air filters should be cleaned regularly. Old air filters should be replaced immediately. A filthy air filter will pollute the air in the home instead of cleaning it. In other words, it can cause serious health issues.
